HISTORICAL REVIEW OF THE  FREE  ZONE OF TACNA

The creation of the  free zone of Tacna historically is sustained by the flight of capitals of the south region of Peru before the commercial height of the province of Iquique with the governmental support of the denominated frank zone of Iquique, with an aggressive policy of foreign trade and the product import and services of high technology.   

Before this circumstance the south zone of Peru becomes a door of contraband entrance that affected the commercial movement without leaving no benefit for Tacna

The restlessness of the creation of a  free zone for Tacna , is the result of an integral study whose first ideas and projects shape in the chamber of commerce and industry of Tacna in coordination with  - ice-- institute of foreign trade..  

 The project presented  displayed to the supreme government takes shape in march of year 2002 with the approval of the corresponding law that it allows to the operativity of the ZOTAC -  free zone of Tacna .   

 Their offices were implemented in the same city of Tacna , in which the first merchandise income in free-port warehouses established in the same city and the collection of the special tariff were made.   

 The ZOTAC directory initiates his functions with the evaluation and hiring of personnel before the arduous task of qualification to the retailers who carried out their commercial transactions in illicit form.   

 This allowed the formalization of thousands of retailers who went away grouping in 42 associations in   number approximate of 5.000 users.   

 Before this explosive growth the administration committee bids on the administrative complex in the pan-american south highway, to a cost of 6 million dollars which is inaugurated and initiated its activities in the month of february of year 1994.   

 In august of year 96 the government emits the law CETICOS that had like objective to oriented to the  commercialization of second used  vehicles  like  an  answer to the problematic  of the cost of the new  ones.   

 Later in the month de august  of year 2005 the ZOFRATACNA law is dictated whose regulation until now does not deserve the attention of the governmental organizations, has been a negative factor for the optimization of the services that is offered to the national and foreign investors.  

 We considered that in his fifteen years of operativity ZOFRATACNA, it can show with pride important works of development such as the valuable contributions the special project TACNA, route costanera Tacna - Ilo, support to the sport in the stage Jorge Basadre,  the provincial municipalities and districts for communal works, CETICOS Ilo and the port of Ilo.
